Brits get confused by car jargon

A survey found that 7/10 people are confused about terms like supercharger, range anxiety and PCH.

In fact, 25% of people who have tried to buy a used or new car don’t know how to communicate with the salesperson.

An analysis of 2,000 adults revealed that 54% didn’t know what plug-in hybrid electric cars (PHEVs) were. When asked about motors other than petrol and diesel, 34% felt out of their depth.

24% don’t know the meaning of “brake horsepower”, and 21% are not familiar with “fuel injection”.

Only six percent of adults said they don’t have a basic understanding of these terms, making them less confident in purchasing a used vehicle.

CarStore did the research and developed an online tool that will help buyers make informed decisions.

A further 74% of respondents would need to be accompanied by a friend with more knowledge about cars to drive them to a garage and view the vehicles they are interested.

25% of respondents surveyed favored dad. Next was a brother (17%), and mom (12%)
